      Pros

      Generous leave and great benefits, especially with the 75% discounted tuition for the employee, their spouse, and/or dependents.

      Cons

      The pay for this position varies widely. My initial offer was a bit insulting but I was able to negotiate to a rate I was more comfortable with. However, after nearly three years in a position where I’ve been asked to take on additional responsibilities, my raise requests have been denied by someone in HR who has no idea who I am, what I look like, or what I do and contribute each day.

      Raises are extremely rare and nominal (several years of no raises followed by 2% for those with exceptional annual reviews. In this economy every year of working in higher education is a equates to taking a pay cut due to extreme inflation.

      Uncompetitive Wages Very small raises (personally earned less than a 5% raise total in the past 3 years while receiving perfect reviews) Little to no career growth Faculty are held in a much higher respect than staff, so staff often "take hits" to make faculty happy.
