Pros

My boss is a very nice, sweet lady who is willing to accommodate on a short notice. I'm a student at PSH and schedule work around my classes, and everyone in the office is so nice.

Cons

A little boring, and not always a lot to do.

Pros

Job: Fast paced work environment. Easy to learn. Opportunity to learn more than you ever wanted to know about how Penn State does business. Basically retail for the IT world. If this appeals to you, you will excel here. Good benefits options; fairly high vacation and sick leave comparatively speaking. Good healthcare and retirement benefits. Area: Quiet surrounding area; don't live in town or near students. Plenty of bar and grills and good eateries in general. LOTS of exploration opportunities; miles and miles of hiking trails in and around the area.

Cons

Job: Relatively low pay compared to the rest of the industry. Ever growing list of services and systems you will support. They WILL change your job description without increase in pay or title. Management can play favorites, assuming they stick around long enough to form a relationship. High turn over in the support staff. Area: In the middle of nowhere red-neck PA if you're from the city. The University is fairly liberal, but the rest of the area is not. (Either a pro or a con.) Almost as or more expensive than some large cities because renters know residents will pay for it, or parents of students will pay it. A lot of the apartments in town are a little run down because of students. Houses out of town can be hit or miss in quality to price.

Pros

Teaching allows for some flexibility; you don't have to be in an office all day

Cons

Lecturers are pretty lowly and don't get increases in salary. The pretty much couldn't care less about you -- you're expendable.
