Working as Team Lead

Pros

Good people, good product development work, Flexible timing, good work culture, good free food

Cons

Lot of politics at work, all credit is absorbed by select few who are old brilliant is face of management. New person joining at Lead level have no scope of getting worth for his/her performance. Poor appraisal and promotion system, all based on quota system; only X % of team can have Y grade. This is team sprit killer, what if entire team is good performer, this just de-motivates and very hard for Lead to explain rational behind poor grades when person has done pretty good job. To many frequent changes in management, appears like they have deliberate kho-kho competition during appraisals so that no manager is accountable for your performance. Now they are going into new horrific model, all engineering teams are considered as factory & there would real champion guys bringing all the business. Factory labor(engineers) just needs to deliver whatever is thrown at them.

Trying to be Infosys in Product Outsourcing. Low salary. Less number of leaves. Need to pass assessment tests before getting a promotion !! Infosys way :-(
