Good as a stepping stone... yet the void in integrity is truly sickening
Pros
The dogs. Friendly customers. Some friendly managers.
Cons
This entire company is driven by FEAR. Every employee/senior/manager/higher-up answers to an even higher-upper power, which results in people constantly acting in FEAR of losing their job rather than being driven by integrity. This is because of the extremely stringent and irrational policies. Its frustrating to be forced to follow a policy *just because Big Brother said so* even though strict adherence to a policy in specific situations where such a policy is irrelevant and irrational and actually ends up hurting efficiency, customer satisfaction, employee morale, EMPLOYEE SAFETY, PET SAFETY AND INDIVIDUAL STORE SUCCESS... unless you happen to have a good manager (who will inevitably get fired for not being fearful enough) employees are not trusted and are treated like robots or marionettes. Yet these policies are enforced by certain blind fearful managers to an extreme... for this very reason... PETSMART IS TERRIFIED OF GETTING SUED. And when someone does need to get fired, again, its impossible to this because PETSMART IS TERRIFIED OF LAWSUITS. Hence, individual store success/raises/actual employee SUCCESS is not important to Petsmart! What matters more is that they don't get sued... hence, FUNDAMENTAL DISTRUST OF EMPLOYEES rules the day and as soon as you get past the initial delusion, you realize how severely bloated, compromised and immoral this company really is. They min/max to the extreme, and their blind enforcement of policies ironically hinders them from meeting their "corporate goals". Sure, working for Petsmart has its perks but its not a place you'd want to stay at for any extended period of time. period of time.
