      I worked many years for this company and didn't receive enough recognition and was fired because of a medical problem.

      Pros

      This company does offer very good pay compared to most retail/sales places. They are continually changing policies and procedures in order to help speed up processes.

      Cons

      This company does not recognize a hard working person when need be. They claim they want to promote from within, but always hire outside the company. The higher ranking managers, specifically the DM and SM, are hypocrites and will give some people as many chances to correct something but others not. They also show favoritism and some managers can get away with anything whereas others cannot. The higher up in the company you get, the less gratitude you receive.

      Pros

      Benefits, Employment, and Hourly Income.

      Cons

      Horrible management. No respect towards associates. It seems the majority of these stores have a high school feel to them. (Source: 2 people who worked at different PetsMarts in state, 1 who works out of state, and 2 who have previously worked at my old PetsMart who were under different management) Little to no leniency. Very unprofessional. Hours are cut to DEVASTATING amounts around holidays and big promotions. You can climb the corporate ladder through UNPROFESSIONAL ways, instead of hard-work. Once again, it's not what you do, but who you know.

      15% discount off any merchandise or services. 30% discount off any merchandise or services offered 3 or 4 times a year. information available about all the products and animals PetSmart sells if you have the drive to read it. Interaction with lots of different animals. Adoptions of homeless Dogs and Cats Opportunity to donate from your paycheck to charities. Educating Pet Parents about their animals.

      Cons

      Inexperienced Managers hired from outside the company. Lack of leadership and lack of recognition for a job well done from many of the hourly managers, but mostly none from the salaried Managers and district managers. Management Favortism. Rumor spreading, No confidentiality about anything , feels like in high school at times Selling Training classes pushed off on employess. No Fairness when making the store schedule. When you call out sick some Managers can be very nasty. Reveiw Process and Raises. Educate associates more consistently. Return policy. Corporate Hotline.Call, lie, complain and get a $25 PetSmart giftcard.
