Pros

16 paid holidays, good benefits, wellness challenges

Cons

- Many of the big decision makers are not informed or even qualified to make big decisions. - Unequal pay and retaliation are institutional norms. - If someone needs improvement in an area they will relocate them, change their position, or dissolve their position without directly addressing the situation or providing professional development opportunities. - Staff do not make a living wage while higher level admins make well above national averages. - No opportunity for professional growth. Positions are filled before vacancies are announced. - Raises and promotions are based on popularity versus merit. - Extremely high turnover and merging of positions, which contributes to the understaffing issue.

Pros

Working at Pfeiffer is a very family friendly atmosphere,at least on the main campus. The other campuses vary. The main campus is pretty (some updates needed) The professor are very engaged and care for the students. The new president, Colleen Keith, genuinely wants to upgrade the university. Insurance and benefits are adequate.

Cons

You are given at least work for two full time positions. You are expected to do both and "help out" when needed. Overtime is out of the question. You are offered "flex" time that you never get to take. The processes are antiquated at best. Internal communication is awful. There is still a heavy reliance on paper. Some long time employees are reluctant to change and sabotage new employees with strategic ideas. Thus, the new employees don't stay long and nothing changes.

Cons

Unstable Finances which lead to low salaries, no raises and constant worry about job security. No leadership alignment No work-life balance as some leaders did not support family planning. Serious issues regarding students were slow to reach resolution. Ageism and some Racism from both the Charlotte and Misenheimer faculty.
