Long Term Care Pharmacy

Pros

This is a long term care, closed door pharmacy. For a pharmacist (or any of the staff here), it's a great schedule M-F with the occasional weekend 4-hour shift. There is no on call here. The stress level compared to retail is non existent. Sure, it has its moments when all the phones are ringing and the scripts just bombard us, but overall it's very easy work. The work we do packing bubble cards/filling prescriptions for group homes is very easy work, although the sheer volume means there is a lot of work to get done each month. The director is flexible and willing to work with schedule conflicts, etc.

Cons

The benefits with this company are sadly lacking. No 401K match for years, insurance is not that great and stupid expensive (but is anyone's insurance really stellar these days?). Most of the staff work hard, but of course there are some that have zero motivation -same as you find with any staff of any company. The technician shortage makes it difficult to get new people in the door. Equipment and technology need to be upgraded.

Pros

The busiest days are still better than a slow day in retail. Some flexibility with scheduling, like for appointments and stuff
