Pros

Good salaries and benefits. Great mission and products. For a small company, processes are very well put together.

Cons

Culture is unique. I made a lot of friends. But with new leadership in marketing, culture has become REALLY toxic.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. As you noted, our employees share passion for our purpose and pride in our products. At Pharmavite, we care as much about what we do, as who we do it with and how; in other words, our colleagues and culture really matter to us. One of our company values is to “do the right thing” and accordingly, bullying is expressly prohibited as part of our Code of Conduct. We do not take the use of that word lightly and there is a zero tolerance for any mistreatment of our valued employees. Anyone who believes they have been bullied or have witnessed it are required to report the incident immediately to their supervisor, Human Resources, or our Ethics Hotline. We are disappointed that you did not feel a part of our culture and wish you success in your future endeavors.

Working here is unsustainable

Pros

You’ll get to work alongside some really good people (until they get demoralized and inevitably leave or get fired). Also working for the #1 Vitamin brand looks good on your resume.

Cons

High performers are taken for granted and will eventually burn out. Although pay is competitive for what your title is, it falls short of what will be asked of you. The executive team, HR, and most of upper & middle management are completely out of touch and/or unconcerned about the dismal morale that most people are experiencing there. If you’re considering joining Pharmavite, especially at West Hills, expect to be overworked and under-recognized...and know that you’ll most likely have to leave the company if you ever want to advance in your career. Rarely do people get promoted from within despite the award winning Vital Leadership program that HR has instituted. It's a great program, but management doesn't apply it as intended. Over the last couple years, I conveyed to management and HR on multiple occasions that several people on my team (myself included) had been working above and beyond our job descriptions for far too long and that it was unsustainable...sadly no action was ever taken, so it forced my hand to look elsewhere and leave. Also, be aware that there are 50 years worth of self imposed processes that slow everything down. And because there has been so much turnover in the last year, nobody knows how any of it works. The chaos will only get worse in the coming years due to the new over-complicated PLM software they’re implementing. And if you’re looking for a marketing position, know that decisions are made based on fear in that department. The CMO and CEO have both instilled so much fear over the last couple years that everyone is deathly afraid of how they’ll react to anything and everything. It’s really sad...I never imagined writing a review like this. I had such high hopes when I joined Pharmavite, but it was a painful place to work, particularly since mid 2019...which is saying a lot considering how well the company has done during Covid.

We are disappointed to hear about your experience. As you noted, we have been in the midst of a transformation since 2018. Since that time, we’ve made significant progress in our change agenda, including such highlights as accelerating our innovation process, launching new digital businesses, and improving our commercialization capabilities - to name just a few. We are proud that our collective efforts have led to unprecedented growth that has outpaced the category as consumers turn to brands they trust through the pandemic. At the same time, we acknowledge transformation is not easy – especially when dealing with the added challenges that many businesses have faced during COVID-19. We’ve done a lot of listening to employees accordingly and are happy to report that employee engagement has remained high, including Marketing. Our most recent company survey revealed that 88% of employees in Marketing are proud to be associated with Pharmavite and 83% report feeling positive about their work. We’ve also made meaningful improvements in the areas our Marketing employees have previously expressed as opportunity areas, including decision making, career development and stress management. Employee engagement is an on-going process and we remain committed. We are sorry you did not feel a part of this progress and wish you success in your future endeavors.
