Pros

As an employer it is an average company. It is relatively small for an insurance company so the chain of command is short and so there is limited bureaucracy.

Cons

It was previously a family owned company so much of upper management is related. Upper level management is often out of contact with the field office personnel.

Pros

- Relatively low stress - Good work/life balance for most employees - Great health benefits - If you are a Maguire, a cousin of a Maguire, or marry a Maguire, you will be senior management within a few years.

Cons

- The Maguires and their family members advance at an unwarranted pace while promotions in the field are few and far between. - Underwriters given little ability to do more than rate accounts, work with products that are not up to industry standard. - Middle management presents an austerity plan and severely limits compensation while the C-suite spends money frivolously, such as appointing Co-Presidents. - Many marketing reps lose money on their travel as the travel allowance does not adequately cover travel expenses. - Overly strict on expenses. It was taboo to spend money on lunch with a broker - PIC reps beg underwriters to put $40 broker lunches on the UW's expense report because they are afraid of submitting expenses.

Easy work, little stress, and it's a paycheck

Pros

1.) The work is pretty easy, if you can type and are competant, you will be fine. 2.) You can listen to your iPod as long as you have headphones in 3.) they pay for part of your gym membership

Cons

It can be really routine and boring. If you are someone who needs to move around and talk to people, you won't enjoy this. It's cubicle life.
