Pros

This firm does work for major clients, and getting exposed to these clients is the only positive I can think of.

Cons

The top down management style where the work force is not respected is both deliberate and antithetical to the manner in which I believe software should be delivered. The disrespect that management has for their clients and servicing their clients’ needs is an embarrassment to the team that face the client, and who must constantly manage the lack of quality deliveries and slipped schedules. The attempt to hide the repressive way that the team is treated fails, and the clients have a strong sense of an overworked, underpaid stressed out workforce. This makes for an awkward relationship between client and middle manager. Because senior management’s style is abusive, and nasty, this style permeates the work force, who feels that normal risk management techniques will be ignored, and in turn become at the middle management level nasty and abusive to their workers. The technology used while sounding 'sexy' and forward, is not well understood by the senior technical team, which leads to embarrassing deliveries with memory leaks, system crashes, and just plain bad user experience. If you are unfortunate enough to work for these guys stay with safe web technology solutions and stay away from innovative approaches, as this firm can only fail here. This company is micro managed by a pair of brothers who do not empower their senior staff to take risks or make decisions.

Pros

None at all to report.

Cons

Not only did I suffer age discrimination and report Photon to the EEOC, but they tried to cheat me $3000 relocation expenses by deducting it from my final paycheck. I filed a complaint with the Texas Workforce Commission. The process took two years! Finally, due to Photon's sloppy accounting, TWC found that they owed me back pay, and they didn't cheat me of relocation expenses. I never received the back pay. I wrote them this week with no response--which is typical for them--mail undeliverable, lawyers who don't show up to calls, emails ignored--tactics used only by shoddy companies.
