I'm actually writing this because management "asked" (really sounded more like a demand) us write about our products and the company on Social Media. Which, in itself, is such a weird ask. I'm not going to post work stuff to my Instagram or Facebook. I would never spam my friends or family like that. So I figure I'd take it to Glassdoor. Not what I expected when I took the job. It's an okay stop on my career path but it's not somewhere I would stay long-term. Since day 1, there's been some fear of layoffs. Their history of layoffs is pretty telling. No job security reassurance whatsoever. There are days I don't do anything at all because of lack of work/projects. There's no real design leadership here. Managers have never been managers previously and it shows. There's no real design system. Every day is a random new project (aka the next shiny thing) from management. People here are either 110% diehard fanboys/fangirls or they hate it here. If you ever try to criticize sometime (even constructively), you are treated like an outcast who doesn't, "believe in the company". It's nuts! I've shortly learned that it's just better to be a "yes man" here and keep my head down to collect a paycheck -- which is a laughable salary compared to real companies with real design orgs by the way. If my boss only makes 5-figures, how on earth would I ever grow and earn more here?

- Constant fear of being laid off - Terrible pay, hard to survive on it - Once my direct managers left, I didn't have the same support or reassurance I wouldn't be laid off - New managers would passive-aggressively watch over our shoulders to see if we were working - New managers worried less about our growth or getting the work done, but rather make us do busy-work - CEO would walk the office at 8am and take names of who wasn't in their seats yet - Executive leadership is extremely out of touch, driving six-figure cars to work and paying experienced designers barely enough to survive in Austin - Leadership changes directions all the time. One week it's crypto, next week its enterprise software, next week its services. No clear direction which leads to massive layoffs. When I started, there was 200 employees, when I left, there were less than 50. - Unlimited PTO isn't really unlimited. When you get past 12 days, expect to get a lecture from managers about how other companies only really give 10-12 PTO days a year.
