Had potential but badly managed

Pros

Smart and great people to work with. Product has the potential to revolutionize the fertilizer industry.

Cons

Failed CEO. Deteriorating culture, 3-4 rounds of layoffs, poor product reputation and the CEO’s answer is to hire new executives and add out-of-touch roles like Chief Growth Officer and CTO. The ‘leaders’ cannot be questioned or challenged, unless you want your role to be ‘relocated’ or ‘restructured’. No HR leadership, Head of HR is just an admin person. What’s the point of doing employee surveys or performance reviews if good people are continuously laid off. I have never worked for a company where most employees are so demotivated and can’t wait to be laid off or leave.

Pros

The people attracted to work at Pivot cared very much about the science behind the product, and about making Agricultural products like corn stay productive and competitive while reducing negative environmental impacts.

Cons

The total removal of the west coast R&D department demonstrates that present leadership at Pivot is no longer interested in maintaining consistent processes, or in retaining talent for the development of innovative and science-based development of new products.

Mission is good, leadership has gone in the wrong direction

Pros

Solid product idea with lots of great people working in the field that are dedicated to customers. Fair pay and decent benefits.

Cons

Exectuvie “Leadership” Team (ELT) is a joke. Unrealistic company goals. C-suite personnel who have never farmed a day in their life or worked with farmers try to tell you how to do your job. Daily/weekly micromanagement to the max. Constant layoffs that were terribly handled and unfair to the people involved. Weekly team meetings were filled with nothing but criticism by upper management towards field-based and sales employees.
