Pros

I started with PlaneSense in 2015 with around 850 hours TT. After reaching 1500TT I was offered an upgrade to captain which I accepted. The training department was excellent. Now that I'm at a regional airline the training very much resembles airline style training for indoc, systems and level D sims in Dallas. Trips are very diverse. Canada to the Bahamas and everywhere in between. Class B airspace to tiny grass strips you will never have a dull moment. The PC-12 is an absolute blast to fly! Still to this day it's the best plane I've ever flown. I did a recruiting trip to my alma matter and I was able to fly my wife and kids with me on the PC-12 which most people will not get the opportunity to do. Lastly the company never pushed me to do something unsafe. Now there were plenty of times I told OCC the weather wasn't good and they would say "can you go try?" To which I would say absolutely! Not get in and have to divert. Never questioned why or got mad that I couldn't get in. Now passengers on the other hand? Not so much. A few times passengers just couldn't understand why I didn't want to fly into a hurricane. That being said the company always had my back. I would absolutely recommend PlaneSense to any pilot looking to gain very valuable experience.

Cons

There was some head butting with management between the pilot group when I was there over salary and quality of life. At the time the regionals were really picking up their hiring and offering crazy bonuses. We were losing a lot of pilots and the work load was increasing. Pay never increased besides yearly raises. And the workload was increasing. Also If you are PSM or PDK based the chances of you flying all 8 days are very hight with no extra pay. If you are based at an outstation enjoy the airline miles that you will gain commuting to PSM. If you are PSM or PDK based the pay will be the same but more work for you. Now however a sort time after I left I have heard captain pay did increase and I know things have changed to improve quality of life. Now with the bad out of the way I NEVER had a problem with the chiefs or management on a personal level. If I had a family emergency the chiefs did everything they could to get me home. At the time I left the company has never missed the birth of a child even to the point of diverting a plane to insure a pilot can get home.

Thank you for the great review! We’re happy you enjoyed your time flying for PlaneSense, Inc! Company culture and safety are two of our biggest priorities. We greatly appreciate how hard our pilots work to provide world class service to our clients and welcome feedback as we are always striving to improve. The good news is, our jet fleet is continually growing, and we anticipate the upgrade timeline shrinking.

Pros

Excellent company culture, safety-oriented, and trustworthy senior management. Rental cars on the road, good hotels, and generous vacation policies give a big quality-of-life boost.

Cons

The 8 on, 6 off schedule can be tiring over the long haul. Jet upgrade is currently at 6 years and getting longer. Limited opportunities for career advancement beyond PC-12 captain, especially if you don’t live in Portsmouth.
