Pros

Brilliant and passionate coworkers, intended mission of the company feels like you could really make a difference in the world. Generally good pay and work/life balance.

Cons

Leadership constantly moves the goalposts and changes direction and everything you worked on for the last quarter or two simply doesn't matter anymore. Abrupt layoffs for high-performers multiple times was shocking and morale-decimating. Communication from leadership was abysmal.

Pros

The culture when I first started was the best I had ever worked in. The company was supporting of employees, their lives, and their futures. I really felt like I was part of something bigger that was helping solve problems. Pay was good, benefits were decent, and work life balance was admirable. They have hired some of the smartest people you'll ever cross paths with.

Cons

Over the last couple years, something changed pretty dramatically as the path to profitability took hold. Promotions became almost non-existent, pressure to over-perform from management became unbearable, and constant direction changes depleted morale and productivity. The company culture around career development went from helpful to basically gaslighting you as a distraction away from lack of internal mobility. HR can be very cold and distant. A lot of what leadership said around valuing the effective work employees were doing seems to have been hollow.

PTO is not earned or tracked, health benefits are decent to good (except dental), the people believe in the mission, relatively good total compensation package inc. RS grants

Cons

Senior management has very little public company experience, and won't push back against the CEO who has zero listed company experience, no 401K match, ~28% of global population "laid off" in the last year as the company tries to even break even, much less become even close to profitable. PL stock price is abysmal for some time now.
