Toxic leadership through and through. Coming down from the CEO, who is a Steve Jobs wannabe, and pursuing that ambition, he has driven the truly promising company, that had everything going for it, into the ground. Below the CEO, the engineering leadership is a clique, where the VP of engineering dragged his clique with him and installed them to all leadership positions, driving out the more deserving people, who had been doing a great job. The clique operates mainly to protect itself, and it is going to throw anyone and anything under the bus. Company culture totally destroys your family life, the company just invades all of your time, they will be calling you to meetings at any time of evening or night. Taking leave is frowned upon. High management always encourage you to take leave, but when you do, your immediate manager gives you hard time and tries to bully you into giving up your leave. Bullying is a part of company culture, and management likes to resort to it often.
The company's loudly stated MO is to overwork employees. The CEO tells people over and over, that it is his intent to overwork them, and all managers work accordingly. People are horrifically overworked, have no work/life balance (the CEO does not believe in it, thinks it should all be just work, and has said that at a number of occasions).
