Great Mission, Great people. Just hard times.

Pros

Pluralsight's mission is incredibly inspiring. Most people you work around are wonderful, innovative humans and in many ways truly are what make working at Pluralsight good. The people we work with are honestly the highlight, they have made working through some hard times at Pluralsight more bearable. Encouragement to continually learn and develop personally and professional are big at Pluralsight as well, something I personally appreciate. We also have good benefits that have been invaluable to myself and my family in my time here. Unlimited PTO and the encouragement to use it are also great things to see across the business.

Cons

Executive leadership turnover has become a regular occurrence in recent years. As a result it feels like strategy and direction are changing regularly causing employees to experience a form of professional whiplash. The end of 2022 and 2023 brought 3 layoffs or "restructures" that have left teams understaffed and often over worked which has caused lower morale and motivation. This has also affected team's trust in the Executive Leadership's decisions and direction. That's not to say we don't understand the need for change and innovation, it brings a lot of benefits and helps keep our business ahead and on the cutting edge. But having some consistency within leadership and their strategy would be valuable to team members at Pluralsight right now.

I acknowledge your concerns regarding executive leadership turnover and the resulting changes in strategy. It's important to note that we've undergone a significant shift in our executive leadership team to align with a new strategy and approach aimed at improving our performance and ensuring competitiveness in the rapidly evolving landscape. We’ll be sharing company-wide OKRs in our January Town Hall to align all of our team members to our company strategy. My manager was awesome he really helped me in a lot of ways and i felt like he cared about my success and me as a person

Cons

It was sort of a negative work culture and i never felt like leadership was very transparent.

Pros

Beautiful building at HQ. They had really good benefits and positive culture until around 2022-2023 when they slowly started to dissolve.

Cons

Three major rifs since December 2022 and smaller ones here and there. Market had a large impact. It was really difficult to witness the frequent layoffs of co-workers without any notice or giving them an opportunity to improve if something wasn't working. Huge impact on company moral, unfortunately. That tends to be the risk you take when working for a tech company in a hard economy. Everyone is on eggshells wondering who is next on the chopping block.

You are correct that we had three restructures in the last year, however, they were the only actions that resulted in reductions and we ensured those team members were provided with severance commensurate with their tenure. I do want to express that regardless of how many we’ve had, each one is difficult and it’s been a challenging and emotional experience. Unfortunately, with layoffs, we can’t always provide advance notice, which I recognize can contribute to the uncertainty and concerns you've highlighted.
