Pros

PTO Parental Leave Recharge weeks

Cons

Quota is unattainable and you will likely get moved from one area to the next with no regard for how this will impact your quota attainment. Training and enablement are truly garbage and the BD enablement guy at the time I left didn't understand how to effectively create training nor did he seem to care how his lack of knowledge on how people learn impacted BDR's livelihoods. After a hellish transition in the CRM we were using early in the year we were forced to transition from the outreach tool we were using with no notice and no solid transition plan. This transition was sprung on us and occurred within a matter of a few weeks. The trainers on the new tool told us our managers should give us some kind of grace period for learning the tool because it was going to impact our numbers, but of course that never happened. Why should the director and VP care about roadblocks to our success when they only care about the bottom line? A combination of all these tool transitions resulted in me to having poor performance, but when I asked for help at several levels (my manager, the VP, other managers, and HR for disability accomodations) the only solution they came up with was pushing me out of the company with severance. I'm not the only BDR they did this to, but I was the only one they pushed out while being pretty far into my pregnancy leaving me in a difficult position to find a new job. The company has gone through 3 rounds of layoffs in less than a year... Probably find another company to work for if you hope to have a job or any kind of career progression in the near future.

Thank you for the review. I’m sorry that your experience working at Pluralsight was negative. We recognize the importance of setting attainable quotas and providing the necessary resources and training to help our team members meet those goals. I hear your feedback and will take this to BD leadership as an area of opportunity. As far as your mention of pregnancy and lay-offs, we remain committed to offering strong parental leave benefits and to honoring those commitments. We’ve worked hard to implement our restructures and staff reductions with care and concern in line with our values, and we do not make employment decisions based on pregnancy status. I invite you to reach out to me to discuss your concerns further. -Will

Pros

As in most companies, the people I worked with were great and the work was interesting. The pay and benefits were decent. Severance after layoff was mediocre.

Cons

I was caught in the December 2022 layoffs so my opinion is naturally skewed. The company culture was clearly in decline since Vista's takeover, but I had some expectations that the rigor Vista brought would ultimately make us more efficient and financially viable, but there was no indication that cuts were on the horizon until the day it happened. Had I remained I would have been apprehensive that any day would be my last, as it has been for many folks who made it through the first cut. My advice to anyone there would be to give yourself plenty of time to find another job, which means you should start looking right now. To anyone considering joining, I would advice you to approach any offers with caution and even if you do join, keep your eyes and ears open for something more stable elsewhere.

Thank you for the review. It’s been a tough year for Pluralsight and many other tech employers. Economic uncertainty combined with several other factors impacted our business and our overall performance was not where it needed to be. We’ve since made changes to our structure and have capable new product and technology leadership. They’ve outlined a clear vision and strategy for our next chapter and we’re excited for what’s to come. We appreciate your contributions to Pluralsight and wish you the best. -Will

Pros

There is a robust remote-work culture, industry standard compensation (based on location), and unlimited PTO that, in my experience, employees are encouraged to take.

Cons

The marketing done by the People team created a false sense of safety when interviewing and onboarding at Pluralsight, however, the institutional racism became obvious after a month or so. The diversity and inclusion initiatives are inadequately staffed with a team of 2 responsible for managing efforts of a company of around 2,000. This leaves most of the responsibility for pushing forward inclusive agendas on the 3 recognized employee resource groups. Active ERG members carry the burden of leading initiatives on top of their normal job functions. Additionally, the federal holiday Juneteenth was not being recognized as a company-wide holiday and when inquiring about why, a leader insinuated that upper management did not believe in the holiday but that individual employees were welcome to use their unlimited PTO to take the day. It goes without saying that this leaves black and brown employees in an uncomfortable position. The people I worked with were all pleasant to be around so the pros might outweigh these cons. Putting it here for transparency.

Thank you for the review and for sharing your concerns. I’m glad to hear that you found the remote work culture, compensation, and PTO policy satisfactory. And that you enjoyed the people you worked with. As a growing company, our diversity & inclusion efforts continue to evolve as well. Our philosophy at Pluralsight is that diversity & inclusion is not centrally owned by one team but rather owned by everyone in the organization. Our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) team members are positioned and empowered to create long-term strategies that will fulfill our company’s current and future needs. They enable our leadership & team members to push forward and embed diversity & inclusion in and throughout the business. We value all of our Employee Resource Groups (ERG) and position them as an extension of our people team efforts. Our ERGs are trusted partners to our DEIB team in driving forward the work around creating a diverse and inclusive environment. In addition to the company driven efforts, we do welcome their voices, ideas and the initiatives they choose to create and lead. We recently added Juneteenth to our list of U.S. holidays (as part of our unlimited time off benefit). The process to make this shift did take some time but I can assure it was not because leadership did not believe in the importance of the day. - Will
