Pros

You get pizza once a month.

Cons

The employee retention rate in the sales team is terrible, and there’s no diversity at all. No female sales staff have lasted more than two months. Management just ignores all the reports of bullying. The SDR setup is a mess, with the team leader playing favorites. When you finally get a demo, the product is a tough sell with below-market integrations and limited features. All the top talent is leaving because of bad managers and a lack of resources. My manager doesn’t even get the product, and there’s zero access to training or development. *This is not a hybrid workplace.*

Pros

I cannot think of a single pro to working at Podium. The company's poor leadership and disregard for employee well-being make it a challenging and unpleasant place to work.

Cons

I would strongly advise against working at Podium. My time at the company was marked by poor leadership, lack of transparency, and an overall disregard for employee well-being. The recent layoff of 70% of the Australian team was a prime example of the company's callousness and lack of empathy. The way the layoffs were handled was beyond unacceptable. Podium dehumanised us by sending a pre-recorded YouTube link to announce the news, without giving any prior warning or opportunity for discussion. This left us feeling shocked, disrespected, and completely disposable. The CEO's claim that they tried to make it "humane" was insulting and false. It was clear that the company's leadership was disconnected from the reality of our daily work and our contributions to the company. There was no transparency around decision-making, which made it impossible for us to understand the reasoning behind the layoffs. There were also very few opportunities for growth or career development, which made it hard to feel invested in the company's success. To make matters worse, the company demanded that we work even harder after the layoff, despite the fact that morale was at an all-time low. They expected us to continue meeting the same productivity levels, even though we were still reeling from the shock of losing so many of our colleagues. This demonstrated a complete lack of empathy and understanding for the emotional toll that the layoffs had taken on us. It was clear that the company's focus was solely on the bottom line, and not on the well-being of its employees In short, Podium is a poorly run company that doesn't value its employees. If you're looking for a workplace that treats you with respect and empathy, look elsewhere.

Pros

The pros for working at Podium are really only the product which is best in market, and the pay which is great for high performing AEs. *Note the pay for SDRs is terrible and the current SDR Team Lead earns considerably less than junior AEs which is appalling.

Cons

The level of bias and inherant sexism is quite shocking. You only have to look at the number of women in the Melbourne sales team and there average length of service to see there's an issue. It's an incredibly negative and old school environment which the GM does not seem capable or willing to change. Must be at your desk for 8am and judged for leaving before 5:30pm when official contracted hours are 37 hours per week. It's a very American culture and they seem unwilling to adapt like other companies have post-covid. The level of anxiety and stress related illness across the sales team is so concerning and this can be seen in the extreme staff turnover. Podium is great if you are part of the high-performing, white male inner circle. But if you fall outside that or have a voice you are really not welcome.
