Pros

Everyone at PG is polite. PG expresses a company model where they want you to take charge of your own career.

Cons

After hiring you, PG has their new employee undergo what they call an RP week. During this RP week, you are not allowed to do anything job related. You sit at your desk, make phone calls to other PG employees outside of your office (people you will most likely never talk to again), and read self-help books. As much as I understand that they are trying to create a good company culture from the get-go, this is not the way to do it. Many employees are bored in their first week and feel useless. Not a great way to start. They also make you write a glassdoor review in your first week when you are in the honeymoon stage. That in itself is a red flag. The training is fast and surface layer. Management expects that once you have heard anything, you must be a pro. When you are done with training, they throw you into the deep end and expect you tot be able to swim. You'll tread water for about a week. After that week, your entire life is consumed with your work. There is no work/life balance. It is expected that you work some overtime each week. Taking charge of your own career - this is the biggest hoax of all. Unless you are a recruiter, PG does not care about your career. I have seen this with others in the office that PG overloads employees with work to the point that they are worn down and have to leave. This includes invested employees working with the company for over three years. Management is not allowed to step in and get their hands in the mud - they can only oversee your duties (some of the time micromanaging too).

Pros

I worked with Populus Group for 6 months full time. Populus Group is like any other Consultancy in market. They usually hire consultants on their payroll and place them through TEKSystems. Populus and TEK are sister companies and Populus is TEKSystems preferred vendor. TEKSystems has a lot clients so the chances of getting to work on various projects are decent. They can pay you good if you negotiate your salary before accepting the offer. Paycheck is on time. You get 10 days PTO. They pay you for Federal Holidays also so its a good thing. People are approachable.

Cons

Health Insurance premiums are very high. If you have a family, you end up paying $1200 a month and has direct effect on your monthly income. Even after paying so much of premium, the plan that you get is of Bronze class, in short not the best one. Out of pocket, annual deductible are soaring high (in the range of $12K/year). So think about premiums before you accept the offer and negotiate upfront so that you get good in hand even after paying premium. Otherwise everything else was ok. There will be little to no interaction with their personnel as most of the client side communication is taken care by TEKSystems even monthly reviews etc.
