      Contingent workforce administration

      Pros

      Facilitates HR administration for otherwise independent contractors. Doesn't get in the way of the client-contractor relationship. Offers basic benefits including 401K (traditional, Roth) health and dental.

      Cons

      Level of engagement with consultants is minimal. Health insurance seems to be considerably more expensive than previously held plans. (may be because of hourly contract vs salary basis)

      2004-2005 1st job out of grad school - great experience

      Pros

      I spent 1 year at Populus Group and it was a great opportunity for learning and and being able to have access to the owners/executives of the business. This allowed to pick their brains on business best practices, etc. It was a small start up at the time, so it was laid back, everyone was down to earth - something I now miss working in a stricter corporate environment.

      Cons

      The only con for me was the fact that the firm was small at the time and it didn't provide me the HR exposure I wanted and needed for my career path, which is the reason I left the organization. Other than that, I had a really good experience.

      The young, bright and full of life lower level colleagues.

      Cons

      Compensation! Lack of mobility within company and lack of working your way up the ladder.
