Populus Group is an organization invested in their people and in the development of positive relationships with their customers, partners and the community. Their culture is one committed to teamwork, transparency and the professional development of its employees.

Cons

Some positions do not have a traditional career path, which someone may or may not find challenging. However, there is opportunity for professional growth.

Pros

Populus Group is a great place to learn. The culture really supports personal growth and looks to train new talent. It is a fun environment and they have a big emphasis on taking care of yourself. The management teams have years of experience that make it a great place to learn. As an organization, they have several lines of business which allow employees to get a great understanding of the industry. Good family environment that supports work-life balance. They havegreat perks for tenure, life events, and stress accounts.

Cons

The company has gone through a lot of growth and therefore a lot of change. There is a big difference in tenure of management and employees. As great as it is that the company is growing, the strategy to continue to develop talent internally is not effective. Management should be clear in the strategy for growth and incorporate the team by being clear of what their roles are. Turnover is caused from the lack of buy-in from employees and a downward morale change because the constant change in direction.

Pros

Populus Group prides itself on being different, particularly when it comes to teaching staff how to be authentic and cultivate constructive conflict to make the company better. As someone who is particularly outspoken, I was grateful for the coaching and opportunities to learn how to more effectively communicate and express my ideas. I also worked closely with employees of all tenure and levels, which is an experience employees are rarely afforded at large companies. There were also many benefits and tools I took advantage of to expand my skills, such as books or tuition reimbursement. Management expects a lot out of employees in terms of time and performance. Most of the time this motivated me to try harder, while other times it left me feeling overworked and unheard. Overall, I had an amazing experience working with passionate people who gave me many opportunities to try new things, make mistakes, and have fun along the way.

Cons

It's a challenging environment to move up in because there is no traditional "ladder". This was an environment I thrived in because I knew where I wanted to go and was driven enough to forge the path. For others who needed more guidance, or who hadn't discovered their true passion it was challenging because the next step wasn't obvious.
