Pros

Nothing, this was a horrible work environment. Good for people with no experience or coming straight out of college.

Cons

I worked on the payroll team during my time at Populus Group. At first I thought it was a really great company to work for but boy oh boy just like after the reviews I read after the first two weeks there is no work life balance at all. I was never off from work, I would stay late and would then have to go home and work after hours and on weekends. During the time I worked there my team was located out of town at the corporate office and was never there for me when I had a question. I had the opportunity to visit them a few times but they made it clear I was not part of the team and was treated very badly. This is a company that if you look very attractive and have the frat boy/sorority sister complex you will make it there. If you are not into groups, clicks and gossip good luck working for this company. The salary is horrible and you are very over worked. Upper Management is a joke. It was a very bad experience for me.

Pros

I'm currently an internal employee at Populus Group and could not imagine myself leaving any time soon. I've learned more about myself working at Populus Group than in all of my past positions combined due to the leadership and the culture created here. Populus Group offers it's employees many unique benefits and opportunities to create their own career path. The Executive Leadership team is approachable and they genuinely care about your success as an employee and individual. If you're not successful at Populus Group, you're not doing something right.

Cons

I don't have any negative things to say.

Mostly fine, but abysmally low wages

Pros

Work-life balance was decent and met some nice folks.

Cons

The pay is ridiculously low. I received a raise ONCE in the two years I worked there - it was only an extra $0.30 per hour. The "cost of living adjustment" calculator was incredibly inaccurate. They've since closed the WA and CA branches as wages are too expensive, but it's wild to see folks being flown out to various places for "fun" events. While my own manager was fine, their manager and other higher-ups weren't so great. Once I left, I became disillusioned to some peoples' management styles at Populus Group - they didn't receive their roles from merit or ability, but connections and privilege. Some of their diversity claims, while they tried, were still watered down. Conversations about inequality and inequity were surface-level and we didn't see any changes actually happen - it was like checking the "we mentioned it" box and not really learning beyond. The employees that get rewarded are the ones with certain energies that match leadership - outgoing, extroverted, loud. Most of the time, they fit a certain stereotype.
