      Solid company to work for but hard to move around

      Pros

      Benefits are very good, supportive work environment (depending on the department/manager), overall great coworkers, nice location.

      Cons

      If you're labeled as an "administrative assistant" it is very hard to move up since managers don't think you're capable of doing anything else. Also, to attract the younger generation, the company needs to become more flexible with work options (telecommuting, flex-schedules, 4-10's, later/earlier start/end times, etc.). The company currently has virtually eliminated all flexible working options, making it not as family-friendly or as Gen-Y friendly.

      Pros

      Great work / life balance, management is understanding of life happening. Love the new workforce coming on board with positive energy and love the experienced stalwarts that you can learn from. Management is interested in getting with the times and updating technology which is desperately needed.

      Cons

      Poor training (it's mostly left to the individual); disorganization with standards and protocol; can still be a bit old-fashioned in terms of culture - but that's quickly changing as 'those guys' retire.
