Pros

The pay and benefits are great. There are lots of talented folks that contribute greatly to the company. There are also lots of good processes on how everything gets done. There are lots of positives of the culture, such as PGE supports employees being part of internal resource groups as well as volunteering at non-profit organizations and matching donations. It also does feel like a stable industry and job which is a little hard to come by these days.

Cons

As mentioned in the pros, there are lots of good processes on how to get things done. However, there does seem to be too many, if that's even possible. This leads to confusion and inefficiencies. When I first started, there was lots of positive vibes in the air but since the company decided to lay off members, it's felt somewhat down lately. The core culture, which is led by great individuals, still good and positive but the scars of many being laid off and losing coworkers still new. It also seems like there's lots of micromanaging of some things and not others (budgets). Also, training has left a lot to be desired. Every company I've worked for before seems to have an extensive training department with well-defined paths that new members MUST take. Here, it doesn't seem to be the case. These aren't CONS per se, but I do think they're definitely things that can be improved.

Pros

25% discount on the insane rates if you live in service territory

Cons

Bad project management. Poor financial management. Contractors get hired because they can't keep good employees. Zero accountability unless you get nailed with a PIP. A PIP just means you need to show even a modicum of improvement. They claim DEI, so they can hire less experienced people and pay them less salary.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for your many years of service at PGE. We appreciate your commitment and the work you do to support our customers and communities. We’d like to clarify a couple of points. The employee power discount is 15%, not 25%, and while we’re proud to offer this benefit, we know affordability is a challenge. That’s why our focus on customer affordability is part of a broader effort to align our work with long-term sustainability—doing what’s right for customers and the grid. Regarding hiring practices, we do not hire based on lowering experience or pay. As part of our pay equity commitment, every offer is reviewed to ensure compensation is based on experience and other bona fide factors. Our goal is to attract and retain top talent while maintaining fairness and consistency. Finally, we’re proud that our total rewards package is one of our highest-rated categories on Glassdoor, including strong retirement benefits, health coverage, and career development opportunities. These programs reflect our commitment to supporting employees both professionally and personally. Your feedback helps us improve, and we encourage you to share additional ideas or specific concerns either internally or anonymously. Please reach out to our HR department directly at 503-464-7250 if you would like to have a more in-depth conversation. You can also report your observations confidentially online to Ethics Point https://secure.ethicspoint.com/domain/media/en/gui/7710/index.html at any time or by calling their hotline at 866-384-4277.
