Quantity more important than quality of care.

Pros

Owns or contracts in a lot of LTC facilities allowing for easy transfers within driving distance from your home.

Cons

Too much focus on QUANTITY of care versus QUALITY of care. Upper management consumed by numbers on paper versus reality in the work field. If a facility loses a contract and don't have a replacement facility for you, they will ask you to work prn but will cancel your scheduled hours as last minute as they can in effort to rearrange therapist schedules and spread them out as thin as possible and save money. This creates much stress on therapists and the overall quality of care in near impossible to achieve.

they like them young

Pros

a twenty word minimum is required here. They have insurance but it isn't the best. a big company like genesis should be able to get better rates but at least they have it.

Cons

they prefer their new hires to be young... as in fresh out of school secondary to budget purposes. As far as age, yes, they do prefer youth but the hourly rate wins out so if you are older and just graduated, you still have a chance to get in if the money is right. I even had a couple of rehab directors tell me that they prefer right out of school and I can appreciate that honesty. The recruiter? Not so honest. I got in fresh out of school but I need to leave shortly for more money. There are no more bonuses, no more double time on holidays, no money for required uniforms, no sell back of PTO.
