Toxic Work Environment

Pros

Literally the worst place I have ever worked.

Cons

Executive level management all despise each other and don't work well together. CEO is a narcissist and has no work/life balance (24 hour emails / texts) and extremely inappropriate with the young women in the office. Not a professional environment; meetings would often turn into shouting matches. If you're not part of the "boys club" of the management team you would be left out on important conversations and decision making. Employees never receive raises or any extra compensation for taking on extra responsibilities.

Pros

It started out great! They were really helpful with the covid situation and allowing us to work from home.

Cons

Unfortunately coming here from another company it's a pay cut because they are not very competitive with salaries. The tragedy of working here is the inner circle of cronyism. Operations Mgmt has a real problem with "personal" connections that cross the professional boundaries. When I felt that my boss was personally attacking me and trying to fire me when called out, I presented this to HR. All was swept under the rug and I was let go after I came back from holiday break without any chance to plead my case. It's a pretty sad day when you can't go to HR when being treated unfairly. They are also constantly trying to take reviews like this one down off of the review site. I would not recommend that anybody work here. Go see "Precept Wine" for more reviews.

Don't work here

Pros

Discount on retail priced wine? A great place if you love to work ALL THE TIME Amazing connections built with colleagues who are also suffering from being over worked, burnt out, yelled at and gossiped about. Sales positions have a huge opportunity for growth elsewhere, but you're not getting a sales role at Precept unless you've worked at SGWS, but if you leave Precept, you're dead to them.

Cons

Where to start? The exec team will gossip about you to other employees and to you about your coworkers. This has included the C level who oversees the HR department telling people about what is said during employee exit interviews. The will also yell at you, make you cry and then during your team calls, tell the rest of the team you cried, mentioning you by name. Timelines given are usually unrealistic. Not just due to workload and capacity, but legal or licensing issues that the teams are encouraged "to work through" because whatever project the CEO or CMO have decided is a priority that week (or day), is more important than following federal and state laws surrounding facilities and alcohol. Work life balance is not a thing here - it was mentioned before, but whoever sends the earliest AND latest emails is the golden goose. "If you work under 50 hours, you should be fired". "Precept should be your top priority. Maybe second to family if you have one, but barely". no out of office messages allowed. "if you have a cellphone, you can work 24/7" - CEO Pay is FAR below comps. Even alcohol industry comps which tend to run lower than other CPG channels. Bonuses are a large % of your total compensation, but good luck getting yours. The amount allocated is far less than the total if all employees hit their targets - if they even have them. CFO will do anything to keep people from getting raises or bonuses.
