Pros

I love the team I work with and our patients. Our particular clinic is more laid back and is less stuffy than a lot of offices I have been in before.

Cons

Not much room for advancement unless you are in corporate, and corporate does not always listen to what individual clinics are saying/need. There are a lot of clinics, and we tend to all be lumped together even though we all need different things. It can cause hiccups and make employees feel like they aren't heard.

Pros

The big thing here is that you get more time with the members (patients) and it's convenient/cost-effective for them to come here- so it's a huge win-win when neither the member nor I feel rushed. A lot more coaching and connection can happen when the model is set up this way! So as an NP I feel more fulfilled and my members feel more satisfied with their healthcare. Keep in mind every health center/ client is different in many ways, but in my review will try to focus on Premise Health as a whole. The overall culture and support provided by Premise Health is strong. I feel I can reach out to my manager and regional leadership with any concerns. There's also a coding review (either quarterly, or biannually I think?) and the team could not be more supportive- they want you to learn and provide resources rather than reprimand. Premise also offers monthly grand rounds, monthly clinical calls, and online CME opportunities. They have access to Uptodate and they use EPIC so it makes for smoother documentation and better information sharing both with patients and between health facilities- better continuity of care! My health center itself allows for amazing work life balance with the schedule- this could vary between sites but compared to many traditional healthcare settings you'll typically see much nicer schedules, no on-call, etc. We are also encouraged to take walks or use the fitness center etc- it's helpful when we're trying to promote health with our members, to be able to "walk the walk!" My health center team has an amazing culture of warm personalities and hard workers which I believe reflects Premise Health as a whole (I think I largely have my manager to thank for that, for hiring the right people but also promoting a pleasant workplace environment). Premise Health offers free virtual primary care for employees and dependents (wellness and acute visits as appropriate). Also, behavioral health counseling is offered virtually for employees and dependents. Once you get it all set up it's very convenient and again, the visits are free :-)

Cons

-Slightly less opportunities to grow as an NP compared to bigger hospital systems - but there are smaller ways to stay engaged and involve yourself in leadership activities. -While the overall pay is competitive, pay increase is usually just 2-3% each year even w/ strong reviews/merit. -The health insurance (currently BCBS): not hard to find in-network providers but note that when compared with the local hospital systems' benefits you're going to see higher deductibles and/or higher premiums. -There is an employer match on the 401 k but it doesn't start until 1 year in on your employment and I think it caps at 4%- which is ok but could be better (for example, a former employer offered immediate matching and a 5% match). -When employees retire, are let go or switch jobs, they can't use our health center anymore- that can be hard :-/
