Where to begin? The structure might have worked well 20-30 years ago, but PRS is struggling to keep up.
Field reps are not held accountable for the work they do, and they aren't given the tools, time, or knowledge needed to do well.
Pay is below average in the majority of positions, and expectations are sky-high (or often unknown).
The people being promoted to "VP" level are completely out of touch with the actual work that goes on (in the cubicles or in the field), but they expect everyone to meet their unreasonable and often uncommunicated expectations. The number of times someone gets completely reamed out in an email or conference call would be unacceptable in most other companies, and often the person doing the yelling/scolding doesn't even bother to get their facts straight first. It's incredibly harmful to morale, and gives workers zero confidence in the ability of these "leaders" to actually lead.
Communication is done primarily through constant conference calls and expecting information to trickle down through the ranks, which results in frequent miscommunication or complete lack of information for those who aren't up at the top. And, of course, if something doesn't get communicated, the person who didn't get the memo is the one getting yelled at.
When problems arise, it seems like the "solution" is just whatever is the easiest thing to implement, regardless of whether it will have any impact on the actual problem.
