Pros
I have to put words here.
Cons
I am sorry this is long; I wanted to be thorough. During the hiring interview, I was told I would have 4-6 hours of work every week. The truth is I've only received closer to 4-6 hours per month, in multiples of 1 hour projects. The huge amount of time it took just to print/read/watch training videos, etc. for each 1 hour assignment was not worth it. They require a lot of prep work. Adding it all up, I actually lost money to them. Hours and hours of it. I was also told during the interview I would only be working in my town. I live in the Rockies and travel isn't as easy as in the city when it snows until May. I was surprised to find I was assigned one location 20 miles away in another town, after being told I wouldn't be by the interviewer. After I inquired about it, I was then given the option of dropping it or being paid for mileage. Since I already had so little work, I accepted. However, every time I visited, I had to ask for mileage again: submit a time sheet issue, then email my supervisor, then wait for approval, and then resubmit. It's just more unpaid time for 1 hour of work. Earlier this week, I received an email to go online and complete some training that day, which I did. I submitted the time sheet issue to get reimbursed, only to be told by my supervisor that I was supposed to do the training on a day when I had other work (not what the email stated), so I could get paid. This should've been told to me beforehand, there were plenty of opportunities, but company policy seems to be to let you know of these things, after the fact. It's easy enough to prove I logged in and completed an interactive training session and quiz. Two days later, it was still unresolved and unapproved, so I unscheduled my work. I sent an email detailing all my concerns accumulating since the interview, and stated I could no longer work for them until they gave me a schedule closer to what they promised. This actually prompted more communication than I have ever seen before with this company. Apparently, when it gets to this point with a merchandiser, your supervisor suddenly reveals you can get admin time and acts surprised that it takes so much time offsite. I wish I had known before, I would've kept track. I don't know how that works, but if the process is the same as training time, then it isn't worth it either. It just seems deceitful to withhold things like that.
