      Pros

      Management is responsive and care about retention. Can be rewarding because so many patients need healthcare in the area.

      Cons

      Depending on role, can be difficult to shave career. There are many career incumbents in lots of different roles.

      Pros

      Some great colleagues who work hard for patients (not nearly enough!) Convenient location Great ER staff who work hard to have short wait times.

      Cons

      -- Poor pay means they often hire incompetent people to run units. Unit director positions are sometimes left unfilled for months or longer. -- Poor discharge planning puts patients at risk, upsets RCFEs, geriatric care managers and other outside health care providers. -- Colleagues' own family members who were inpatient had to fight to get good care for their loved ones. -- Loss of Grossman Burn Center and S+AGE Geriatric Clinic to other hospitals -- Poor employee morale -- Health plan was so limited that a pregnant wife had trouble finding an OB/GYN

      Great Place to learn, but not to stay permanently

      Pros

      Hire New-grad RN's even into special (ER, ICU, OR, L&D), Easy to transfer depts and try new things, friendly staff/co-workers

      Cons

      Lowest paid in the area, even yearly wages are only 50 cents. Company would rather lose its employers than match other area hospitals pay scale.
