Terrible company Run Away

Pros

Benefits are not that great but at least you get some.

Cons

Leadership is clueless. Kids of the owner run the show. Over the last 5 years I have been here, we work our tails off and receive no recognition, only harder deadlines and comments about reducing staff by 10-20 % every year. They used to have some great managers in the corporate office but they all eventually leave or get pushed out. If you are a yesman/yeswoman you get promoted rather than talent/ability. Senior positions held by mostly family members. Some departments are a complete joke such as Patient Access. Here is an example. They had a really good project manager named Baljit from Chicago who was a doctor. He made some good changes and so this department finally knew about policies of admitting patients, accepting insurance etc. He worked closely with another manager Janet who was very knowledgeable. These two individuals were on different teams tackling different issues in patient access from different sides. The leadership at the time didn’t like that for some odd reason and moved the people who actually knew what they were doing from the process. Since billing/coding/utilization review/patient access all has to work together in this work setting, every department leader is stuck in their own way of doing things. They don’t like to collaborate to solve problems because they think they are losing something.

PTSD Month End Meetings

Pros

Free healthcare, but it's not worth the savings if you die for it. They might very well kill you in their sepsis ridden hospitals.

Cons

Month end meetings with Dr. Reddy will give you PTSD, he curses and screams and demands leaders to do non compliant illegal billing.

Mismanagement at its Finest

Pros

Honestly, the only pro when it comes to Prime is the fact that their horrible (and well earned) reputation precedes them wherever they go. Thankfully, with a minimal amount of effort, it is easy to see that this is an organization to be avoided at all costs.

Cons

The phrase “hack and slash” falls woefully short of adequately describing the mindless, shortsighted decisions Prime makes on a regular basis. The best way to describe how Prime Healthcare operates is to picture a sleazy contractor that wants to flip a house. He has no morals and no conscience to stand in his way, so he decides to buy the most beat up house he can find to minimize his out of pocket investment and maximize his profits. He looks at lots of terrible houses and finally picks out “the cream of the crap” which are loaded with catastrophic issues including cracked foundations, termites, and mold problems. These train wrecks are available at rock bottom prices since they’re the ones nobody else wants. So what does our contractor do next? He slaps on a fresh coat of paint, invests the bare minimum to make the house look slightly less like a disaster, and does his best to unload this hot potato on the first sucker that he comes across. A month later, when the shoddy work he did to give the illusion that the house was no longer falling apart is discovered, he’s thousands of miles away and laughing all the way to the bank with loads of money. That’s what Prime does, all across the nation, right under our noses. They buy the failing hospitals nobody else wants, invest the minimum amount possible to give the false impression that the major issues have been fixed, and then do their damndest to sell the steaming pile and run before it all unravels. If the Prime Circus is headed to a town near you, RUN! Not just because working for them is positively soul crushing either... because competing with the hundreds or even thousands of displaced workers that will be dumped into your job market overnight when their hospital inevitably closes will make it that much more challenging to find your next job.
