Pros
I was a little suspect about the incredibly high score on Glassdoor regarding PrizePicks but after working there for a while I completely understand and can say that it is completely genuine. The company is dynamic, fast moving, full of excitement and energy, and most importantly completely devoid of interdepartmental friction which felt very foreign to me. Every single department seems to be operating towards common goals and is excited to be part of the adventure. As far as I know every employee is part of the bonus plan which is based on department and company performance so everyone has personal stake in the success of both. The real thing that threw me off initially was the senior leadership team and their approach to leading their teams. There is an unrivaled approachability of each member of the c-suite where you can reach out to them and discuss ideas or give feedback on direction and THEY ACTUALLY LISTEN. They guide the direction based on data and guidance from their teams but then defer to the approach to the experts in each field on how to actually go about implementing what they envisioned. It is some great combination of confidence and humility in every action and interaction. The confidence that they have the right people and they know where they need to bolster and then bring in absolute superstars to fulfill those goals. The humility comes in the form of deference to those experts and don't tell them how to do what they do, only give guidance where needed and context on a more global scale. Domain specific to the Engineering organization the CTO and VP of Engineering work with an unparalleled unity and lead from a place of excitement and empathy. Both of them come from strong engineering backgrounds and give Engineers the latitude and freedom to actually engineer solutions without dictating in areas they aren't themselves experts. Everyone feels involved and that culture they built is 6 stars of world class. They are bold and willing to pivot as needed with the unbreakable belief in 'do the right thing for people and the company'.
Cons
Just your normal growing pains of any hyper growth company.
