Manager is not a nice person

Pros

The pay is competitive, and the company has a good reputation.

Cons

My manager is not a nice person. He expects me to do all the hard work and takes credit for whatever is done right. If I make a mistake, I am grilled mercilessly. I am not sure I would want to work under such a person for long.

Amazing experiences early in my career

Pros

I didn't really know what it meant to work for a leading company like Gateway when I applied, but it's turned out to be an awesome experience. I've been able to work on projects I never imagined when I was in school, so it's pretty cool when I get to talk to my friends about my job and the cool stuff I'm working on.

Cons

Must be able to learn on the job.

poor management

Pros

schedule, pay, benefits, work /life balance

Cons

Since the change in management, I have observed a noticeable decline in mentorship, professional development, and advancement transparency. Opportunities for growth appear less defined, and decisions regarding advancement lack clear communication, which has negatively impacted morale across teams. The current leadership approach relies heavily on micromanagement rather than empowering experienced operators to perform their roles independently. This shift has reduced trust, engagement, and overall team confidence. Additionally, changes to the attendance policy have significantly impacted employee morale. Previously, time off was structured into three categories: PTO (sick time), unpaid PTO through a point-based system, and PTO (vacation). Under the current policy, once sick time is exhausted, vacation time may be reduced or revoked for attendance infractions such as illness-related absences or lateness. This has created concern among employees, as earned vacation time is now directly affected by attendance issues, which was not the case under the prior system. Collectively, these changes have contributed to decreased morale and engagement across the workforce.
