Great place to work!

Pros

I really enjoy my coworkers. With the company being as small as it is, around 30 people, it's somewhat easy to get to know everyone, even in a remote setting. The yearly retreats in Milwaukee are a great chance to further develop those relationships. My onboarding experience was excellent. You really get the support you need as you learn more about Profound's process and take on client work. Company culture is great-- management is supportive and transparent, and people really help and celebrate one another. From a day-to-day perspective, the work-life balance is good. I don't have a ton of meetings, which provides plenty of time to focus on client work. The work itself is very data-driven, so if you like conducting research you'll enjoy the job. The work can feel a little repetitive at times, especially near the end of a big project. But there are opportunities to take on different projects which keeps things fresh.

Cons

This doesn't have to be a con, but might be depending on your work style. The team I work on has tackled a handful of different projects for the first time. This has required embracing some ambiguity, adapting to different workflows, and collaborating to figure out the best process. Because the company is small, and teams are small, it might be you and one other person working through a process. The benefit is you have input into how to do things. The challenge is figuring things out for the first time. This isn't every project, or all the time, but has been part of my experience.

Thank you so much for sharing! We hope that our small, tightly knit culture works for the best for our team and for the company - but we are also aware that it can also be a weakness at times if not handled well. Thank you for helping us foster a strong company and culture - and please keep sharing feedback with leaders and HR anytime you'd like!

The most streamlined place I've ever worked

Pros

--Profound Strategy has a clear production process and pretty defined roles, eliminating a lot of confusion and fires that I had previously grown accustomed to while working in in-house marketing. --Leadership cares about how you feel workload-wise (and as a person). I've been here for a little over a year and there were only 1-2 instances when I felt like I had too much on my plate. When I mentioned it to my leaders, they immediately took action to see how to make it more manageable while still meeting deadlines. --Being able to work remotely every day. --Despite being an entirely remote organization, there's pretty effective communication among team members and from leadership. Profound has clear and robust policies on communication to use people's time efficiently. --You complete a comprehensive training in Profound's processes before starting your actual job which I found refreshing compared to previous places I've worked that were more learning in the moment. --Leadership tries to be inclusive and aware of others' mindsets from a DEI perspective.

Cons

--Profound's processes for specific steps of our overarching workflow change frequently to optimize resources and boost work quality. I personally don't mind process changes, but for people who stress about them, this might be challenging. --While communication about significant topics is pretty good, some of the day-to-day communication can be difficult as a remote team. It takes a little longer to get to know peoples' communication styles and what they mean (compared to if everyone was in person where it might be a little easier). --I've experienced some workload fluctuations during my time here. There were the 1-2 times when I felt a little overwhelmed (explained above), but then there have been 1-2 slower periods, too. During those times, I expanded my SEO knowledge and education by taking some free courses and reading articles. --During the first few months after training, I found it a little challenging to report to two people (as an Editor, I report to an Account Manager and our Managing Editor). I haven't reported to two people before and sometimes we'd need to balance opinions/needs. Since then, we've all found our groove. --As an organization, we sometimes struggle to complete client campaigns on time. Profound is in the process of determining how to resolve this.

Thank you so much for your positive comments, and thoughtful "Cons" as well! Change is often needed, but like you said, too much change can be a challenge and even a point of stress. This is something we are always trying to balance so that there's not too much change at any one time, and that each change is a notable positive improvement. Thank you again for taking the time to post this review, we really appreciate it!
