Pros

I have been a proud employee of Progress Foundation for 11+ years. I have always been treated with kindness, support, and respect. The culture of the agency is one of inclusion and understanding. It is these values that allow us, as counselors, to provide our clients with truly client centered treatment. Additionally, Progress Foundation provides an unprecedented allotment of paid time off (up to 2.5+ MONTHS each year, depending on length of service). This time off allows us to take care of ourselves, which makes us better able to care for our clients. I truly love the work I do, and I couldn't imagine working for a better agency.

Cons

Shift work is hard. It's not for everyone. If you're looking for a boring 9-5, look elsewhere. But a varied schedule has it's upsides too. You just have to be creative about how you use your paid time off.

Pros

First job I ever had where your input matters and is valued. Upper management will not even listen to a complaint about an employee unless you have done your job and adequately trained them. Progress will help you become good at your job if you want to learn and they hire great people who truly care about the work and their clients. They have great benefits to no cost to the employee, other than co pay and 5 to 6 weeks vacation time. There is great teamwork and good communication.

Cons

Pay is on the lower side but I have made more in other places and did not feel as fulfilled and supported. I take less pay over good working conditions any day.

Pros

Benefits (starts with 6 weeks per year) and increases with pay for 5 years Chill, friendly environment with managers who support you promoting up, within or outside the company The entire agency truly care about the clients Can work in SF, Napa or Soco

Cons

Turnover of line counselors due to it being an entry level position and a challenge not everyone can handle :( But those who stay do so for 5-20 years and are amazing!
