Growing pains

Pros

It is fairly easy to move up on the corporate ladder here. Between the company values and the Employee Resource Groups for Black people, LGBTQ+ people, and women, Progressive has made an effort to build a positive reputation with minority employees. After Covid, work from home became a possibility (although C-suite folks were highly opposed to it before). Although there is a VERY heavy white Mormon population (being that the company is based out of Utah), Progressive does a good job maintaining a diverse culture. Still, it can be uncomfortable if you're not a white Mormon person as that's the majority of Progressive's makeup.

Cons

Growing pains. Not a young company, but feels like it. Depends on where you're at int he business, but management can be all over the place with expectations, goals and objectives, support for your role. Most roles are not set up for success and people become burnt out and overworked as they do so much more than the job description yet are not compensated competitively. The FTC case was a result of Progressive not listening to to the call center employees who noticed customers were constantly escalated and upset at our misleading advertisements and customer miscomprehension. Despite all the complaint forms and documentation of these issues, nothing significant was changed until after the fact. No wonder Progressive was sued. Progressive is reactive, never proactive, always trying to reach some stellar goal without cleaning the house first. People on the phones are exhausted because of all the strict measures and mediocre incentives, and the leadership is clearly burnt out and acting out of haste.
