Middle Management Nightmare

Pros

Publicly traded stock with decent market value.

Cons

Management is an absolute nightmare. If you're an engineer, I highly recommend running for the hills from this place. It's where dreams go to die. They will undervalue you and treat you like garbage. HR at this company will not assist you, and will actively try to push you out the door if you express any problems. Significant pay raise and quality of life increase after leaving this company for me. Proofpoint simply does not value retaining talent or encouraging skill growth. They will not assist with any training. Empty promises typically. Management will actively use anything you express as negative, against you. They'll utilize HR to pressure and manipulate your actions. This place is hands down the worst place I've ever worked at in my career.

Pros

Work life balance Good pay Collaborative Work culture Technology driven Use of latest and greatest technology trends

Cons

1. For Engineering org - Subtle form of sexism - Women are hired to get the job done but no career path is provided, no promotions. For any opportunity to grow into leadership position - 99% of the time a Male is hired from outside to lead (often times less experience and not qualified) 2. No Career development opportunity 3. lately hiring is pretty much driven with heavy influence from referrals hence quality of hires has slided to new lows. 4. In last 1 year, Few of Engineering executives hired don't event have experience and qualification for first line managers. 5. No interest in employee retainment, Management don't care even if their best people leave.

Management with poor EQ / ethics and too political

Pros

Not much to share especially with stock diving down

Cons

Management (especially some execs) have no EQ whatsoever and need a lot more training / coaching on how to lead teams. Upper Management (some execs) are too busy micro-managing projects, looking good to their bosses etc, when they could be doing a better job at hiring better people especially at the VP level. The recent VP hires would not even cut it as first line managers at mature companies that have a good culture
