Pros

Contact with providers. That’s it

Cons

Management does not act professionally yet expects you to. Mgmt cuts hours without notice or expectation. Misleads candidates about hours during hiring process. Keeps new employees on hold with no notice as to their start date (90 days personally) with little to no communication. Forces employees to buy scrubs only from their vendor, at an overpriced and inflated rate. Receives much more compensation than is given to the scribes, despite minimal costs due to having remote workers and small centralized structure. No potential for increased pay due to performance or seniority. The phrase “Part time” is relative to this company—expect 10-12 hours.

Pros

The clinical experience extensively scribing with the same providers allows you to make great connections. Learn a lot of medical knowledge.

Cons

First, it took me over a month to get hired, trained, and placed at a site although I had been communicating with a recruiter for a month prior. Management is god awful. I have had the absolute worst time with my "manager" who I have never even met. She has been unprofessional and rude every interaction I have had with her. I was told I would receive a "disciplinary action report" for not being able to work 3 shifts a week although I am a full time student and told them that from the beginning. I gave my availability and time off requests with over 2 months notice, and have been told that I will be put on the schedule because I missed a time off request deadline I was not told about. I am extremely disappointed because I have had a great experience with the doctor I scribe for, but $9 an hour is not enough for me to continue putting up with the scheduling conflicts for much longer. The management is manipulative and takes advantage of the scribes, who are all students at my clinic.

Great Opportunities, Room to Grow

Pros

Great opportunity for learning medicine and getting healthcare experience. Opportunities to get leadership experience and travel.

Cons

Employees are most students gaining experience. Because of this, employees are susceptible to being taken advantage of. Students will do it for the experience and not the money so they will do it for minimum wage. However I think ProScribe would get better quality applicants and improved results if they offered more benefits to their employees. For example: higher pay, raise or PTO incentives when highest goals are met, paid holidays, better health insurance, etc.
