Could be better

Pros

Everyone here is mission driven and excited to change the industry. People are trying their best to save the company.

Cons

Company always does short term planning. Everything is deadline driven. Hard working and trusted employees are now gone but the bullies in management are still here?? Lack of a CTO makes the entire engineering department a sweatshop for business and product. There is no investment in technology because everyone is too busy building product features (if not solving prod issues), further limiting growth of the company.

Pros

Decent snacks. Startup where you can develop a variety of skills. Great location in downtown SF near embarcadero. Some smart people to learn from.

Cons

Layoffs were done in a very unprofessional manner. During a surprising all hands meeting, all employees were told to go to their desks to wait for a potential email telling them they were laid off. Everyone was a nervous wreck while watching their friends and coworkers pack up their things to leave. First thing the CPO says after the layoffs is that now it's much easier to fit in meeting rooms. Sexual harassment issues were left unaddressed for months. Product management that tells designers and engineers to build products with no direction. Culture that is driven by fear of the CPO and other executives. CEO that sells all his shares and then boasts to the media he is not taking a salary this year. This is a sinking ship you want no part of.

Blow It Up

Pros

Benefits are great. So are perks with commuter and wellness reimbursement. Stocked snacks are cool. Innovative ideas within the business model. Too bad they couldn't execute

Cons

The train ran out of track and just fell off the cliff. They just laid off 200 of us to try and improve income performance..... Or decrease loss and cash burn. Or maybe they are trying to create value to sell the business just to deepen execs coffers at the expense of real people with real passion. They let go of their CBO and COO today. Along with 200 other layoffs. Yet they leave two of the main problems on. How on earth can you let that pompous CPO stay when he hasn't done anything to improve the business. You can't improve sales when you have a crap product. And even if you have a great product, it doesn't matter when you bank on three major investors to buy all our loans. Your senior exec in charge of the investment side did nothing to diversify, yet he is still employed. How can you not forecast for what will happen to the business in a down economy when he did not diversify with a larger investor pool. And because of your poor planning and careless behavior, you just significantly affected several people's lives...... In a bad way.
