      Pros

      Overall : Growing rocket-ship of a company on the cutting edge of Fintech. I did my research on fintech before joining. There has been 4X investment in Fintech in the last year compared to the year before. Prosper is a pioneer in the p2p lending industry and has been doing it for a long time. This company is poised to be a winner in a exciting new market. Company culture : It's fun, informal and everyone around seems to have a good time doing what they do. People take their jobs seriously. Benefits : Great benefits. Easy access to Bart for my commute. The kitchen is well stocked, they have a gazillion options for coffee @work and a Philz coffee is only a block away.

      Cons

      My commute is a little longer but I am taking advantage by catching up on my reading materials on Bart.

      Declining market and culture - set for layoffs

      Pros

      There are some great people to work with but not for. Snacks are stocked twice a day.

      Cons

      Prosper management is setting the stage for layoff's. Hiring freeze and the chatter from management is they are preparing to layoff employees to be cash positive. Aggressive and unplanned hiring is now resulting in layoff. Some employees are already fired with more to follow. Management has the worst hiring record and there is always an imbalance in the team. CTO and CPO are mutually exclusive and the power swings between the two groups. Management creates situations for employees to leave, to avoid severance packages.

      Great place to be a software engineer

      Pros

      The company is growing fast but is taking a lot of care to grow the right way. Within engineering there is a lot of focus on using the right tools. The product is very interesting and has a lot of development opportunities. The leadership is very open and honest about decisions.

      Cons

      The only con I can think of is that application traffic is going to be significantly lower than most large consumer tech applications. This is more a function of the business.
