Pros

Remote flexibility, support for career development before 2024, great employees that ain't managers or directors

Cons

Executive directors and shareholders somehow transformed what used to be a welcoming, efficient and encouraging company into a toxic, depressing and unstable corporate business. This place used to be a lot of fun with supportive (now former) managers who actually lead and empower their teams, but the updated executive "leadership" team, corrupted "human resources" directors who hate people and break women, and all of the new appointed senior directors in many departments have ruined the morale by creating an unsustainable environment, where you are forced to be excited to come work 80 hours a week, or they will find a way to destroy your soul and force you to quit, or be fired so they can replace you with yes-men for less money. They will also fire you in any given moment, not because of performances, but for sudden initiatives to fund tens of millions of dollars for "strategy plans", such as outsourcing services to India, which is not a coincidence that the new CEO is Indian... but also many other random excuses they come up with... all to kiss the boots of the shareholders.

Pros

Some teams have great management and leadership, including my own. There is support, encouragement and empowerment to make decisions in my team and through my direct senior leader. I really enjoy what I do and the team I am on. I do think some of the changes recently have been necessary and trying to hold on to hope for what’s to come. Pay is decent, but could always be better. Overall, I’d still recommend working at PL, but there may be some departments I’d avoid until the dust settles from new executive leadership

Cons

The fear and toxic stress from other departments seeps into the rest of the company, bringing everyone down. We see the poor decisions, lack of true effective leadership, and all the changes keeping everyone on edge. People don’t feel supported or empowered in a lot of teams and I understand why they are so frustrated. If I was in a different department, I’d probably be looking for another workplace too.

Tough times ahead and lost trust

Pros

Pay was good. Remote flexibility was great and the team was great to work with.

Cons

Upper management is going a direction I just can't understand. It looks like they are trying to get people to quit so they can offshore more development. The problem being the software they developed is so coupled and complex I believe they are in for an incredibly painful road. Upper management seems to flat out ignore concerns from engineering. Picking cheap and fast over and over has dug a giant hole they want to ignore.
