Prowess is for Professionals

Pros

Prowess is for professionals. If you want a job where you can sit back and punch the clock, this is not the place for you. You will not find a daily to-do list here or a micromanager breathing down your neck. If it is important for you to contribute and make a difference in your professional life, you will do well here. My ideas have directly been implemented into processes and that feels good. I feel like my ideas matter. Management cares and notices when you to bring your own experience to the table and they really expect meaningful contributions to a team effort. Even if you are just starting your career and lack experience, this is a really good place to grow and learn from others, but you must be self-motivated, so keep this in mind if you are considering working here. These things make for a really cool synergy between employees and it makes a company where people really care about and take pride in the work they do.

Cons

You must be self-motivated. More happy hours.

Pros

I genuinely like the people I work with. I have been given lots of growth opportunities with my position. The business is dynamic. For some roles you can work remote. Prowess doesn't feel corporate, and for me, that is a good thing. Overall, your experience will depend on your department. The Consulting department is a talented, close-knit group and there is room to grow, but their work tends to be fast-paced and stressful. The Managed Services department is based on contracts with clients. It often has a more steady pace, but advancement is not automatic- you really have to market your skills and have good timing. The SmartDeploy team is dynamic and more social. Since they mainly work on-site, you have to fit with the team and their personalities. They have a lot of tenure there, but new employees that don't fit are out pretty quickly. Prowess is results-driven, but that can be a con to someone too.

Cons

Prowess can be stressful. I have found if you don't let your manager know you are overloaded, you can quickly find yourself underwater and working late hours. Some managers are better than others. If you are a sales person, results are important.

Pros

Prowess is really a great place where people with lots of different kinds of skills have the chance to work on challenging projects with many of the world's leading technology companies. Lots of modern workplace benefits including good IT, some free food and beer. Many, but not all, have tremendous flexibility.

Cons

The work is very challenging and clients can be very demanding. Clients are either remote and have associated communication challenges or they're in your face.
