Pros

Working alone without supervision of the District Manager is good. Pay is O.K., but could be alot better.

Cons

the employee's at the properties are the heart of the company, yet they treat us like dirt. The economy is in the toilet and instead of accepting that fact, in order for their bottom line to look better they cut the bulk of our bonus encentive. What we are paid for the most on is no longer in the equation. Baseing it entirely on people through the door now totally removes it out our hands. If our numbers are not up to what they expect, it's always the property managers fault. They want and accept no excuses but rampidly run with theirs. Upper management, all colledge educated, love to make changes to the properties when they never have run one day on a property by themselves. They give no reasoning to any of the changes, we are told that it is now what we must do, and that's it.

Pros

Not supervised at all times, pay is ok, get to meet interesting people (both employees and customers), hours are good--no nights

Cons

District Manager goes to "favorite" properties, reviews are not equal, scheduling help at the properties could use a lot of help, no chance of advancement

Pros

Stepping stone. Independent work. On site housing. Goal Oriented. Simple work. Resume and contact building. An ideal place to learn the basics of the self storage industry.

Cons

The company has decreased real income to field employees for the last 5 years. The company culture is "WASTY" (We are smarter than you!) Employees are unable to take initiative to address customer needs and then reprimanded when customers complain. Facilities are not maintained because these expenditures are a part of the compensation plan for District and Regional Mgt. ergo the routine items that should be addressed are put off until they become major problems. There is no program for promotions or development from within.
