Full of In-Fighting and political maneuvering

Pros

Decent non-monetary benefits, short commute if you live in Hammond.

Cons

Underpaid, since the merger of the two campuses, lots of in-fighting and political posturing that make for a toxic work environment. They treat you less like a human and more like pawn to be used in a grand game of chess. I've seen multiple people fired with no warning at all, only because one person had more political connections within the organization and wanted a larger 'piece' of the puzzle. Be prepared to work outside of normal work hours, especially if it's in the IS department.

Pros

There is not much to say in the way of positive. One of the more disorganized universities I've seen in 20+ years of higher education.

Cons

Majority of staff who stay are miserable and not good at their jobs. There is a large amount of turnover, especially from those who are hard working. They cannot keep many good people.

Pros

Some of the greatest entry level workers around. Those who promote up usually know the job and respect their subordinates. Friendly atmosphere.

Cons

Good old boy system. Too many people are hired in and/or promoted because they know someone in management. Upper management does not support the entry level workers. Human Resources is a joke and does not look into matters.
