Pros

The students are awesome!!! The hours can be flexible. Upper management is understanding.

Cons

Don't matter if your performance is excellent...when a incident happens they don't look at the whole picture or ask others their thoughts in the situation. They don't look at your performance to determine employment status.

Pros

The university provides a quality education to its students. Purdue is one of the largest employment sources for the area.

Cons

I believe the average length of employment is around 15 years for the majority of the staff and administration. They are stuck in old ways and fight every chance to move processes into the 21st century. Older employees who lack technological skills resent newer employees who bring new approaches. You find more retirees who have returned and temps working there than fresher employees. There is a high turnaround for employees working there two years or less.

Pros

Generally good benefits, some great Mostly relaxed atmosphere Diverse technology Rewarding to be part of education system Umm...can park near my job site

Cons

Perpetual reorganizations (good management transforms and leads, bad management reorganizes) Benefits costs rise faster than salary while providing less each year Staff treated like second-class citizens compared to faculty. President has limited understanding of what it takes to support a university and a student. Merit pay freezes for years due to Mitch Daniels as governor, now for two more years with Mitch as president of Purdue.
