      Pros

      Lower management is generally flexible and works with you. Good benefits.

      Cons

      Low pay compared to comparable jobs in other higher ed institutions. Lack of a global vision for IT and frequent upper IT management changes make life in systems chaotic. Upper management doesn't appear to work as a unit.

      Pros

      International, intellectual environment, impressive research, low cost of living

      Cons

      Once upon a time the low pay staff received was balanced by job security and benefits. It was a great place to work and a family atmosphere. This is no longer the case. Expect to still see salaries about 20% less than market but staff expendable mindset today. After 25 yrs of exceptional service, considering cost of living, I made less at Purdue than I did starting as a new grad in 1988.
