Pros

Good benefit package (health, dental, vision, 401k)

Cons

From a leadership prospective you are at the whim of those who operate potentially a 1000 miles away and make arbitrary decisions without hands on knowledge of specifics. You are expected to have absolutely zero life outside of the office and no matter how much you give there is no recognition - you are just asked to give more. They pay some of their GM's and AGM's an enormous salary when their hourly employees barely make minimum wage. This happens elsewhere too but in particular some of these GM's & AGM's are not personally performing , are not inspiring leaders but instead berate their underlings while doing nothing themselves to solve problems as a team. Regional and corporate are afraid to fire the most horrible employees who end up being bullet proof and bring down the whole team while others are held to the fire for the most trivial of concerns.

A good job for those with few skills

Pros

The focus on guests at my property was where the managers spent a lot of their time, which is the most rewarding part of this otherwise unrewarding job. The pay is pretty damn good for a job that requires little in terms of skills.

Cons

Work is exhausting, putting in a 40 hour week as a bellman, where you might walk/run 10+ miles in a day, can make it really hard to do anything productive beyond work on your day off.
