probably better now but deeply insidious
Pros
There was a good amount of diversity.
Cons
I worked here for almost 6 years and it was a dream come true for me. I couldn't believe how horrible it turned out to be. At first it was fun and exciting, but it quickly turned into a more toxic environment than anyone could imagine. I can speak to the on-air production side as well as the business side, not to customer service or anything like that. The culture there is that employees are treated like it's rush week at a sorority. Regardless of their level, the employees that have been there longer than you are condescending, mean, and manipulative. Unexpectedly, the men here were actually the only ones who were normal and sane, all the women above entry level (except literally 2 or 3) were very much "I suffered to get here so now I'll make you suffer". I want to be clear that this wasn't normal catty attitudes/behavior, this was fully hostile work environment, laughing at you while you're crying, ridiculing kind of stuff, invading your privacy/asking for details about doctor appointments, counting minutes you're not at your desk, just basically constant harassment. The worst of it was within merchandising but the toxicity runs deep and throughout the entire site, including human resources, marketing, programming, planning, etc. I went to HR, requested it be off the record and that no action be taken, after months of dealing with it to try to figure a way out of the situation and anything I could do to cover my bases. They immediately met with my entire team from my immediate supervisor all the way up to the vice president of my department, HR didn't even tell me but my team did. It's actually insane. I don't know if it's something taught at the Florida state colleges or what. This wasn't my first job, this wasn't me being too soft, this wasn't me expecting to be given the world. I'm pretty tough and rebound quickly, but I haven't rebounded from this. When I left I took a necessary break from working at all because it was truly traumatic. But it's been years now and I still haven't been able to go back and work for corporate America again because of this place. It sounds SO dramatic but ... this is the truth. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, ever.
