Pros

You never work Sunday and some holidays.

Cons

No choice working overtime every other Saturday. Hired as a phlebotomist but you will have many other job added to your work, process your blood, health insurance bill collection, drug testing, wellness physicals etc.... Staff turnover, never can keep staff due to unreasonable demands on staff. Always short staff for years. Requesting a day off is always refused cause of always short staff. Emergency day can never be taken before or after a holiday cause you get written up. Supervisors have a lot of power that they call “at there discretion they can do it” if they like you that is.

Pros

Benefits are OK. Never as good as they want you to think that they are. In the West Coast health insurance is mediocre at best.

Cons

If you are a professional, you do not want to work in this sweatshop. In some small labs, the temperature reached 88 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer. And they would not fix that because they did not own the lab. This happened year after year. They do that purposely to get cheap rent. That is room temperature. Imagine what that feels like in a polyester lab-coat working in between large instruments. If you are a sick old timer (not too sick because the work load may kill you), or someone that cannot work anywhere else, the job is doable. But for a trained ethical professional , to meet their standards, you put your license at risk. Only people that stay are the disabled, or sick veterans. You either end up crazy from the drama, or give up on all your ethical standards to fulfill their productivity quotas. Quest Diagnostics, is the only place where the MLT's are leading the Med Techs. The main reason for it: MLT's can cut corners and work fast as they do not know much about how the test performance is affected. Also, because they can pay them peanuts, and make them feel empowered as they can tell us Med Techs what to do. Management borders on the abusive and liable. Many abuses in labor law, OSHA, EE, and age discrimination. The company promotes pushovers that have no future elsewhere . Some of the managers that I had could not even write or speak English well. But they held their whips tight and pushed employees like slaves to please the upper managers that have been trained as stars in the automotive industry.
