Pros

Nicely stocked kitchen. You may have a nice sounding inflated title. Location is near lots of food options.

Cons

In the engineering group, there is very little help or mentoring to help you get started. There is practically no process. People will routinely modify files directly on production servers with no regard. There is practically no QA department. It's basically all seat-of-your-pants programming. As for the title inflation, they use a strange form of performance grading where each promotion has "titles" such as manager, director, vice president, etc. But they are simply different bands and not indicative of whether the person actually had direct reports. Notice how so many people are director or VPs. Overall, pay is probably about 20% lower than industry average among the engineering department.

Pros

- good work/life balance - can WFH when needed - good opportunity to learn if you want to - great place to start a career

Cons

Employees have either been here 10 years or 1 year. High turnover rate due to the senior management having the mentality of "we've been doing it this way for years and it works fine". Not much room to change/update processes and practices. Old technology and laptops. Everything seems rushed to be completed to start generating revenue. Which causes many problems in the building process that only get band-aids once pushed live. Recruiting, HR and admin push "fun" activities but only they partake. Verticals are extremely segregated. The edu team has absolutely no idea what the financial services team does.
